It is with great sorrow that we report the death of Norman Jaquish, 66 of Gansevoort NY. Norman, or “Jake” as he was called by family and friends, died unexpectedly on January 8, 2019. This came as a shock to all those closest to him who were not aware of his continuously failing health conditions after receiving a kidney transplant seven months prior.

Jake was born on August 1, 1952 in Ilion NY to Jerome and Theresa (Capuano) Jaquish. He was graduated from Mohawk Valley Central High School and briefly pursued a life in baseball. Not long after, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country for a term of four years, stationed in Turkey.

After an honorable discharge, he spent a majority of his life working for Hannaford’s as a meat cutter. He is survived by his daughter Heather Bourassa and her husband Clifford Bourassa, granddaughters Christina Bourassa and Cassandra Lemmon, and great-grandson Hayden Lemmon of Richfield Springs NY. He is survived by three siblings; Delia Medina of Florida, Alice Waldren and family of Mohawk NY, Eugene Jaquish and family of Frankfort NY, and his lifelong friends and family Debbi Kennedy and her brother Stuart Kennedy.

Jake is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Jerome Jaquish and Theresa (Capuano) Jaquish and his “second parents” Walt and Loraine Kennedy as well as his siblings Phyllis Singer of Ilion, Jeraldine Randall of Rochester, Jerome Jaquish Jr. of Ilion, George Jaquish in Korea, and Theresa Case of Mohawk. Jake will always be remembered for his loving and generous personality along with his devotion to NASCAR, sports, and his love of country music.

He is greatly loved and missed. His service will be held at 12 pm on April 26, 2019 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. , Saratoga Springs, NY, followed by a 1 pm graveside service in honor of Norman at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
