Norman Paul Conrey, 87 of New Harmony, IN, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019 at his home. He was born in Griffin, IN on March 29, 1931 to the late Lela (Kern) Conrey and Charles Conrey. Norman graduated from Griffin High School in 1949.

He served in the US Army, 24th Division, in the Korean Conflict. After his military service he was employed by Superior Oil Company and Continental Oil Company. In 1970 he started his electrical business, Wabash Valley Electric.

Later he was owner and operator of oil leases that major oil companies had left behind after the Griffin Oil Boom of the 1940’s. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Wayne Conrey; and sisters Mary Lou Phillips and Mildred “Teenie” Wilson. Norman is survived by his wife, Barbara Houchins Conrey; sons Michael (Gail) Conrey of Olney, IL, Patrick (Tammy) Conrey of New Harmony, IN; daughters Laura (Nick) Bohler of Poseyville, IN and Amy Conrad Andreas of East Glacier Park, MT; sisters Hildred Niemeier of Mt.

Vernon, IN and Wilma Moore of Carmi, IL; grandchildren Liam Conrey Bohler and Maya Helen Andreas. Holder’s Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Conrey. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Holders Funeral Home from 10am- 11am with Memorial Service at 11am with Fr.

Ed Schnur officiating. Private interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Griffin, IN.
