Oleta Heptinstall Curl, 97, of Fort Payne, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Mrs. Curl was born June 8, 1921 in Blanket, Texas to the late Willie and Edith Eaton Heptinstall. She never got over her love of Texas!

During World World II, she met James Curl at a military hospital in Brownwood, Texas and they later married. She kept the books for James at Fort Payne Tire Center and raised their two children. Mrs. Curl had a special touch with dogs; she loved them and they loved her, especially her Sammy and Lulu.

For many, many years, she played the organ at church. She was a member of Minvale Baptist Church and enjoyed volunteering at the Life Center there. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev.

John Keefe and Rev. C.L. Wilborn officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Payne Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Alacare Hospice, PO Box 728, Rainsville, AL 35986. She is survived by her children, Jimmy Curl and wife, Nancy and Bettina Cunningham and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Casey deSocarraz (Jose), Jess Bewley (Jay Foster), Cori Johnson (Nick), Sarah Curl, Jennifer Curl, Mary Kirby (Mike), J Hall, and Mary Beth Hall; great-grandchildren, Hunter Traffanstedt (Jacey), Matthew Nowak, Promise Bewley, Lauren Bewley, Rachel Bewley, Andrew Hightower, Bella Whitfield, TJ Jordan, and Morgan Jordan; and great-great-grandson, Lane Traffanstedt. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 2001 and sister, Ruth Morris and brothers, Roy and Lynn Heptinstall.
