Olin Dewitt Johnston Bell, 82, of Red Bank, SC, passed away on January 1, 2019, after a lengthy battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at Barr Price Funeral Home, 609 Northwood Rd, , Lexington, SC on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 2 pm. Olin was born in West Columbia on July 6, 1936.

He graduated from Brooklyn-Cayce High School in 1956. Olin was married to Martha Sue Barron Bell on January 31, 2012; they were married seven wonderful years. Olin worked as a guard for Lexington County Jail for 11 years and had other jobs in his earlier years.

He enjoyed woodcarving with Art James at the Lexington Leisure Center. He was an avid Gamecocks football fan and did not miss many games when he was younger. He went to his last Gamecock football game with his beloved Melinda Holmes, granddaughter, Deanie Shelton, daughter, and Toby Matthews, grandson.

He loved going to the Gamecock football games and fishing with his grandson,Toby Matthews. Olin is survived by his wife, Martha Sue; sister, Eunice Lee; daughters: Deanie Shelton (Devon), Tracy Matthews, and Tammy Monts; stepson: Lee Canaday; stepdaughter: Jimmie Sue Pierce; grandchilden: Kacy Matthews, Toby Matthews, Melinda Holmes (Jason), Rebecca Hall (Josh), and Josh Monts (Eryn); greatgrandchildren: Faith Holmes, Katie Holmes, Jacob Hall, Jase Hall and David Matthews; his beloved cats, Cocky, Maggie, and Simba, and other family and friends. Olin is preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Susan Bell; brother, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Bell, and sisters: Edna Oswalt, Mary Knudson, Lucille Branham, Mozelle Boatwright, and Bernice Fry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Fellowship Baptist Church–Caring Hearts and Helping Hands, 4238 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. The family of Olin D. Bell wishes to thank Lutheran Hospice, fellow members of Fellowship Baptist Church, members of Fellowship Baptist Church Prime Timers Sunday School Class, members of Red Bank Baptist Church Adult Sunday School Class, and friends at Lexington Leisure Center.
