James “J.L.” Corder entered into his eternal rest February 20, 2019 to be with his Lord. James was born January 20, 1944 in Richland County and was the son of the late James L. Sr. & Lila Estelle Corder. He was preceded in death by his sisters Lila Lee and Julie Medlin as well as his brothers Buck Corder and Dewey Corder.

Mr. Corder was owner of C&L Roofing and Corder’s Open Air Market. He was a Mason of Lodge 381, Past Potentate of Jamil Shrine Center, and Community Leader in Edmund. He was also a member of Lexington Church of God.

He was the loving husband of Harriette L. Sharpe of 56 years. Other surviving family include his son James Darrell Corder (Kay) and daughter Margaret C. Couture (Jonathan). Grandchildren include Michelle Joyner (Josh), Jacob Couture, Timothy Couture, and Hannah Corder.

Great grandchildren are Kali Francis & Skyler Francis as well as many nieces and nephews he loved dearly. Also surviving is his devoted fur-baby, J.J. Services for Mr. Corder will take place at Trinity Church West Campus; 650 Ermine Road, West Columbia, SC 29170 2p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lexington Church of God Building Fund or Shriners Hospital of Greenville. Special thanks from the family go to his caregiver of 4 years, Wanda Elko, for her compassion and care. The family also wishes to thank Dr. J. Edward Golay, Dr. Amy Epps, Dr. Bruce Goeckeritz, and Lighthouse Hospice Group.
