Obituary for Oscar S. “Buddy” Porter III Mr. Oscar Sidney “Buddy” Porter, III, 67, of Lancaster passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born November 24, 1950 in Lancaster, a son of the late Oscar Sidney Porter, Jr. and Marion Collins Porter. Mr. Porter graduated from Lancaster High School and attended Clemson University and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Winthrop University.

He was a lifetime member of Sigma NU fraternity. Mr. Porter was an avid Clemson fan and a lifetime IPTAY member. In addition, he loved the Carolina Panthers.

Mr. Porter was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lancaster and the owner of Porter’s Used Cars. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Porter will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 2 pm at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating.

Burial will be private. Mr. Porter is survived by his fiancé, Jennifer Newman of Lancaster; a son, Andy Porter and his wife Tiffany of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Mary Margaret Riester and her husband Richard and Emma Leah Neal both of Lancaster; four sisters, Priscilla P. Deaton and her husband Jim and Martha P. Beasley all of Lancaster, Nancy P. Martin and her husband Luther of Blythewood and Gayle P. McKenzie and her husband Joel of Sylva, NC; three grandchildren, Jacob, Bear and Sidney Porter; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Garner; a brother-in-law, Steward Beasley; and a nephew Roy McKenzie.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Lancaster Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 608, Lancaster, SC 29721. Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Porter.
