Pat Gazzillo, 85, loving and loyal husband of CarolMary (Bitler) Gazzillo for 62 years of Phoenixville, PA died on Sunday, April 22, 2018. Born in Phoenixville, PA on February 14, 1933, he was a son of the late Charles Angelo and Angeline (Foresta) Gazzillo. Pat was a loving and devoted father.

He is survived by: Daughter, Kim wife of John Holbrook; Daughter, Lynne wife of Carmen Bozzelli; Son, Paschal C. Gazzillo, Jr. 3 Grandchildren: Natalie Coggins, Carmen A. Bozzelli, and Steven C. Holbrook. 2 Great-grandchildren: Grace and Addyson Coggins. He was preceded in death by daughter, Sally Gazzillo and brother, Vince Gazzillo.

Pat graduated from Phoenixville High School in 1951. He received a BS in Physical Education from West Chester State College where he played football and held a long time record for rushing yards. He then received a Master’s Degree +15 in Education from Temple University.

He taught at Phoenixville High School for 35 years and was Chairman of the Driver Education Department retiring in 1991. He then taught night school drivers education at Spring-Ford High School for 15 years. He owned and operated Gazzillo’s Driving School and operated for 45 years.

In May 1992 he was given the “Distinguished Service Award” by PA Association for Safety Education. “No student was allowed to give up”. He taught thousands of residents in Phoenixville, Pottstown, and King of Prussia how to be excellent, safe defensive drivers.

He was an usher and loyal member of St. Basil the Great parish community for many years. He was a member of the Men of Malvern. “Talked all day and half the night, but on football fields he was dynamite”.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 2340 Kimberton Road, Kimberton, PA 19442 on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Devlin Rosmos Kepp and Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460 on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm and at the church Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 am.

In lieu of flowers contribution may be made to St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, P.O. Box 637, Kimberton, PA 19442 or First United Methodist Church, 865 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
