Patricia Ann (“Pat”) (Leljedal) Dibble, 77, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away July 18, 2018 at Franciscan St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born in New Albany, Pennsylvania on October 19, 1940 to George A. (“Andy”) Leljedal and Mereata A. (“Edie”) (Richlin) Leljedal, and the world was never quite the same. Her mother taught her to be strong, independent, and resilient; traits that Pat utilized well and utilized often.

Pat had a zest for life and enjoyed music, dancing, tending her beautiful flowers, and playing cards. Her grandchildren were the highlights of her life and being “not your typical grandma” left them with such wonderful, happy -and often unique- memories. She adopted and loved many stray cats and fed and cared for countless others.

She had a special place in her heart for those that were struggling and needed a helping hand. Pat worked a variety of jobs in Terre Haute, including Rueben H. Donnelly Directory, Vigo County Assessor’s Office, Tribune Star, and the Unemployment Office. She was a member of the Terre Haute Eagles and the VFW Auxiliary in both Terre Haute, IN and Overton, PA.

Her loss will be mourned by the many she touched. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Robert Marshall. Patricia is survived by her son, William Dibble, his wife, Tonia; daughter Andrea (Dibble) Carty; grandchildren Melissa Carty; Meghan Carty; Britney (Dibble) Richards, her husband, Dustin; Kaitlyn Dibble; Lauren Dibble; and great grandson, Jaxon Richards; brother, Edward Leljedal; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests honoring Pat with a contribution to the Terre Haute Humane Society, 1811 South Fruitridge Ave, Terre Haute, Indiana 47803, or PO Box 3307, Terre Haute, Indiana 47803. Cremation has been chosen, and no services are scheduled at this time but Pat would enjoy knowing her friends and family will raise a toast to a life well lived. Her favorite drinks: Bacardi and Coke and, of course, margaritas.

Cheers to YOU, Pat! If Pat taught us anything, it was this: When life gives you lemons, throw on your best lipstick, and slice ‘em up for a stiff drink. Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana 47804.
