She was born July 22, 1937 to the late Charles Frederick Blount and Juliet Boyd Blount in Christiansburg, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Chumbley Moore; her brother, Charles Frederick Blount, Jr.; and her great-grand daughter, Cora Juliet Wendrick.

Patsy graduated from Christiansburg High School in 1954, married and started a family instead of attending college at that time, after receiving a scholarship. She moved to the Richmond area in 1957 and became very involved in the community. She was a stay-at-home mom earlier on and volunteered in multiple capacities with young teenagers and children, became active in Bon Air United Methodist Church where she was a member for 58 years, was a member of Salisbury Country Club for nearly 40 years, was previously an active member of the Jaycees, her community garden club, bridge clubs, and always volunteered as “room mother” and clinic helper at her childrens’ schools.

In 1972, Patsy decided to fulfill her educational goal by enrolling at Virginia Commonwealth University and was then accepted to the VCU School of Occupational Therapy where she graduated with honors in 1976. She was employed by MCV from 1976 until her retirement in 1997, where she held positions as a Staff Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Section Chief in Psychiatry, and a Clinical Instructor for the School of Allied Health. Patsy was a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Virginia Occupational Therapy Association.

The most important aspect of Patsy’s life, however, was her family. She adored each family member and was a most devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Thomas C. Barker; her son, Donald Chumbley Moore, Jr. (Joerg); her daughter, Carole Moore Fields (Robert); granddaughters, Tara Elizabeth Moore (Maegan), Cabell Fields Wendrick (Corey), and Carmen Fields Rhodemyre (Richard); her great grandchildren, Cooper Boyd Moore, Caybrie Juliet Wendrick, and Carson James Wendrick; sister-in-law, Dianne Bush Blount; brothers-in-law H. Stephen Moore, Jr. (JoAnn) and families, and Dr. Paul “Pete” S. Moore (Dale) and families; devoted nephew, Charles Ross Blount and family; and special cousins, Sallie Lefler and family, and David Blount and family; along with many other beloved family members and friends.

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 25, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street, Glen Allen, Va. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 26, at Bon Air United Methodist Church, 1645 Buford Road, Richmond, Va. Burial will be private with family members.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bon Air United Methodist Church or Hospice of Virginia.
