Patricia (Patti) Ann Workman, age 65 (born September 10, 1952), passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and closest friends on June 11, 2018, following a two-year battle with lung cancer. Those that were privileged to love Patti undoubtedly felt her passion for people; whether a birthday greeting she seemingly never forgot, her ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone, or thank you cards she notoriously gifted, Patti loved her friends and family intensely. … Read More » She gave a lot yet asked for little in return.
She was kind-hearted, yielded a personality larger than life itself, and offered the warmth of a smile to friends and strangers alike. Patti fought her battle with cancer much like she lived her life, with courage, tenacity, and unwavering strength. Her legacy will be carried on through those who loved her most, as a life filled with love is a life that’s been lived.
Patricia Skaggs became Patti Workman on May 8, 1971, and is survived by her husband, Greg, of 47 years. Patti’s spirit also lives on through her son, Jeff (wife Michelle, grandchildren Jorden, Hailee (Noah), Mason (Jordyn), and great-grandchildren Aaliyah Grace and Weston Paul) and daughter, Heather (furry grandchild Milo). Patti had eight siblings and is survived by sisters Roberta Holley, Tudi Pettis, Jill (Larry) Boniface, twin brother Mike (Terri) Skaggs, and brother-in-law Paul Herzmann.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, James Skaggs & Ruthelma Hooten, brothers David Skaggs & Bud Hubner, and sisters Penny Herzmann & Carol DiFiore. Patti enjoyed motorcycle rides with her husband, dinner outings with great friends, and the bright lights, flaming batons, and hip-hop music of halftime shows at Ames Miller Field. She never missed one of Heather’s softball games or the opportunity to take Jeff to a Billy Squire & Ratt concert.
Patti loved being Grannie to Aaliyah and Weston but adored being “Patti” to the three that gave her a new understanding of love. It goes without question that Patti’s fun-loving and giving spirit will carry on through her infamous potato salad recipe, bright blue eyeshadow that is sure to come back into fashion, and the upcoming [winning] season for the Green Bay Packers (GO, PACK, GO! ).
During a time that defined the greatest challenge of her life, Patti was genuinely humbled and touched by the outpouring of love and support she received. Thank you for loving her well. A celebration of life for those loved by the Workman Family will be held on Sunday, June 24th at the LaPorte County Fairgrounds (Building 1) from 2:00 – 5:00pm (CST).
