Obituary for Anna “Ruth” Arndt Anna “Ruth” Arndt December 8, 1923-July 26, 2018 Anna “Ruth” Arndt, 94, of LaPorte, Indiana, left us to be in the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Brentwood Assisted Living in LaPorte, Indiana. She was born December 8, 1923 in Monterey, Tennessee, the daughter of John Oscar Selby and Mattie (Harris) Selby. Anna Ruth was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of La Porte.

She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 434 of Kingsford Heights and the VFW Post 1130 of La Porte. Ruth worked at KOP through 3 different wars, American Rubber, and Ruth Sabin Home. She loved being surrounded by family and friends, that she enjoyed cooking for and making them feel loved.

She loved playing bingo at the Real Service and sitting outside bird watching. She adored her grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren’s company. Although her presence will be greatly missed, her love and spirit will continue on in the many lives she touched.

She married the late Donald McGhee in 1941 and on December 18, 1965, she married the late Richard Arndt who preceded her in death. She is survived by her two daughters, Connie Hutchison of La Porte, IN, Donna (Andrew) Brown of La Porte, IN; son, Jay (Phyllis) McGhee of Union Mills, IN; ten grandchildren, Rodney Boyd of La Porte, IN, Scott McGhee of Bridgeman, MI, Jodey Conway of Alexandria, VA, Sheila Batchelor of La Porte, IN, Allyson Ruder of La Porte, IN, Jackie Palmer of Gainesville, FL, Nathan Harrison of La Porte, IN, Cale Brown of Union Mills, IN, Nikki Vance and Jarrod Palmer both of FL; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Judy McGhee; many nieces, nephews, and loved ones. Anna was preceded in death by her son, Roger McGhee; four brothers, Carl Selby, Robert Selby, Larry Selby, Richard Selby; two sisters, Ruby Wicker, Edith Copper; granddaughter, Pamela McGhee.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave. , La Porte, Indiana where the family will receive friends Monday, July 30, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, July 31, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tim Schryer officiating. Interment will follow at the Tracy Cemetery, Hamlet, Indiana.
