Obituary for Patrick Steven “Coach” O’Shea Patrick Steven “Coach” O’Shea passed away at his home on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the age of 67. Beloved husband of Tammy Robinson O’Shea. Loving father of Ryan Patrick O’Shea, Katie Elizabeth O’Shea and Shannon O’Shea Martin (Jesse).

Stepfather of Alexis Robin Gennusa and Ashley Paige Gennusa. Grandfather of Ryleigh Mary Claire O’Shea. Son of the late Madonna Chaput O’Shea and Laverne Francis “Dutch” O’Shea.

Brother of Cathy O. Lapeyrouse (Robbie), Kelly O’Shea Pocari, Joseph M. O’Shea (Debbie) and John T. O’Shea (Tara). A 1969 graduate of Jesuit High School and the University of New Orleans, O’Shea retired as a wholesaler for Genworth Financial where he was a repeat member of the President’s Club for superior performance. At Jesuit High School, O’Shea lettered in baseball, track and basketball.

He received the Larry Gilbert Family Memorial Award for outstanding all around varsity athlete. O’Shea played baseball for two years at Nichols State. Coach O’Shea was a well known and beloved coach in the New Orleans catholic league from 1976 to 1994.

He served as an assistant baseball coach at Jesuit High School, head baseball coach at Archbishop Shaw and an assistant at Delgado Community College. While at Shaw he built an impressive record. As a 26 year old head coach, O’Shea led the Eagles to their first-ever Catholic League baseball title in only his second season.

Shaw also won back-to-back district championships in 1983 and 1984 and reached the Class AAAA title game in 1983. His Shaw-based Conmaco won the 1978 American Legion state championship and finished as state runner-up in 1981. Relatives, friends and former players are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 W. Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA 70471 on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 12:00 noon.

On Tuesday evening there will be a wake at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433 from 5:00 pm to 8:00pm and on Wednesday morning at Mary Queen of Peace beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Mandeville Cemetery.
