Seekonk, MA – Retired Pawtucket Fire Department Captain Paul R. Dooley, 64, of Seekonk and formerly of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully from job related cancer Saturday, May 12, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Charpentier) Dooley. Paul and Joan were married for 39 years.

He was the son-in-law of Peg and Roger Dorie of Cumberland. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Russell E. and Florence A. (Jordan) Dooley, he had lived in Pawtucket for most of his life before moving to Seekonk 13 years ago. Paul was a Captain in the Fire Prevention Division of the Pawtucket Fire Department where he served 29 years before retiring.

He also worked at Drolet Hardware and was also the former co-owner of City Mulch Company, Pawtucket. He was a member of the Pawtucket Fire Fighters, Local #1261, IAFF, the Pawtucket Firemen’s Relief Association, the Pawtucket Public Safety Retirees Association, and the National Association of Fire Investigators. He was a member of the Stony Brook Rod & Gun Club and the Slater Mill Fishing Club.

Paul was a US Navy veteran serving on the USS America CV66 during the Vietnam War. Besides his beloved wife and his in-laws, he is survived by two loving sons, US Navy Senior Chief Matthew Dooley and his wife, Ashley of Gulfport, MS and Josh Dooley (his special caregiver) of Seekonk, MA; two brothers, Russell E. Dooley, Jr. of Smithfield and Jeffrey Dooley of Pawtucket; his beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Jayden, Nason, Ava and Alexa; his brother-in-law, Kurt Charpentier and his wife, Peggy of Lyndeborough, NH; and his sisters-in-law and caregivers, Debra Laliberte and her husband, Gerard of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Susan Swope and her husband, Chris of Mount Joy, PA; and several nieces and nephews. He was the dear friend of David and Linda Bessette and Captain Steve Parent, PFD (ret.

). He was the son-in-law of the late Raymond Charpentier. His service will be held Sunday, May 20 at 1 P.M. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.

His burial, with military honors, will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday 11 A.M. – 1 P.M.
