Paul Reese Burris, age 85, a resident of Decatur, passed away Monday morning at his sons residence. Mr. Burris was born and raised in Calhoun, Tennessee and he was the son of the late Nannie Jones Burris and John Nelson Burris. His sisters, Margaret Howard, Martha Lou Elliott and Cleo Burkhart, his brothers, Harvey, Ted, Frank and J. D. “Dee” Burris and William “Bill” Burris and his half brothers, Cleatus and Charlie Burris also preceded him in death.

Early in his life, he owned and worked at several gas stations in the Cleveland area. After retiring from Magic Chef (Whirlpool) he worked for Benton Wrecker Service. He enjoyed farming but fishing was his favorite pastime.

He enjoyed fishing so much in his last years. Survivors include his sons, Paul Reese Burris Jr. and his wife Krystan and Robert Burris, his 3 granddaughters, his 1 step grandson, his brother, Joe Burris and Joe’s special friend Bonnie Slack of Calhoun, his special niece, Joyce Womac and her husband Victor also of Calhoun and several other nieces and nephews also survive. The Remembrance of Life Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 A. M. at the Calhoun First Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Danny Stanton officiating.

Family and friends will serve as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 P. M. Thursday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel who has charge of the arrangements. You may share your condolences and your memories with the Burris family at www.
