Gary departed this life on December 15, 2018 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer at Star Medical Center in Athens, Tennessee. He graduated from Cook High School in 1970 in Athens, Tennessee.

Upon graduation he served in the United States Navy from 1971-1974. Gary was an active member of Freeman Chapel where he served as a deacon and choir member. He was retired from the Co-Op in Athens, Tennessee.

Pinky was full of life with a smile on his face. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Anthony Hopper.

Survivors include wife: Ozella Hopper of Prescott, Arkansas Two sons: Gary James Hopper Jr. of Prescott, Arkansas and Christopher Hopper (Candace) of Hope, Arkansas Two daughters: Natasha McCowan of Athens, Tennessee and Lakeisha Ware of Prescott, Arkansas. Three Sisters: Myra Sangroni (Roberto) of Fort Pierce, Florida, Katrina Hopper of West Park, Florida, and Mary Hopper Jones of Port St. Lucie, Florida. One brother, Kenneth Hopper of Brooklyn, New York.

Two aunts: Betty Porter and Billie Armstrong of Athens, Tennessee. Special friend and loving companion Maxine Weston of Athens, Tennessee and a best friend Bob Jones of Athens, Tennessee. 23 Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Freeman Chapel in Athens, Tennessee, Visitation will be 12 pm before the service. Burial will follow at Hammonds Cemetery, Athens, Tennessee.
