Our beloved mother, Paulene Boyce Greenwood, peacefully completed her earthly journey on October 15, 2018 in her home at the age of 92. Paulene was born in Lewiston, Utah to Paul C. Boyce and Norean Bright Boyce. She was the oldest of six children.

As a child, she had a close bond with her grandparents and spent much of her childhood in their company. She especially carried fond memories of her grandmother, Nancy Boyce. Paulene grew up with a love of music, and singing in particular.

As a student at Jordan High School, she enjoyed theatre and singing in musicals. For years afterward, she sang with a trio and performed in musicals at the Draper Art Theater. Her most unforgettable experience was singing opera at the Promise Valley Playhouse.

Paulene married R Parry Greenwood Jr. in the Salt Lake Temple on February 15, 1945. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage. As a mother, Paulene was dedicated to making her home a loving and comfortable place for her children.

She enjoyed cooking and sewing her children’s clothes. She also filled their home with music and her operatic voice often radiated throughout the home. She found joy and purpose in raising six children and three Indian Placement children—teaching them gospel principles and instilling love.

Paulene was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities, including Young Women and Relief Society presidencies, and felt joy through befriending and fellowshipping others. Her love of a gospel-centered life was portrayed in her hours of service to her family and others.

Her utmost joy was serving with her husband in the temple for twelve years. Together, they also served three missions, including serving as Mission President of the Rapid City, South Dakota mission. Her life was a legacy of faith.

Paulene had an overwhelming passion for life. She was known for her cheerful nature, loyalty, and strength. She also loved the beauty that surrounded her.

She frequently pointed out spectacular clouds, Autumn sunsets, majestic mountains, or tranquil sounds of birds. Paulene is treasured and deeply loved by her 26 grandchildren and 78 great grandchildren. Her ultimate love was her family.

Her cherished legacy remains as one devoted to family with an abiding testimony of Jesus Christ. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the Hospice nurses and in-home caregivers who went above and beyond expectations for her comfort and care. Paulene is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Parry Greenwood Jr., and son Roger Greenwood.

Survived by her children: daughter Nancy Lund (Vance Heslop), son George Greenwood (Louann), daughter Laurie Gormley (Randall), son Ray Paul Greenwood (Jennifer), and daughter Paula Saxey (Mark). A viewing will be held for family and friends on Sunday, October 21 from 6:00-8:00 pm, and on Monday, October 22 from 9:30-10:40 am at the church on 12353 South 600 East in Draper.
