Peggy Sue Allen, 73, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on January 7, 1945 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Loyce and Gladys Woodis Shemwell. She was employed for 14 years as a bus driver for the Owensboro Board of Education and retired from Audubon Area Community Services.

Peggy was a member of Pleasant Memorial Baptist Church where she played the piano. Her children were her life and she was a mother to all the neighborhood kids. She loved cooking feasts of epic proportions, watching action films and westerns.

But most of all, Peggy loved spoiling animals especially her dog, Yetta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Nelson Allen; and brothers, Donald Shemwell, Bobby Shemwell and Paul Shemwell. Survivors include her children, Jim Bob Allen (Kim), Duane Allen, Daryl Allen (Trisha), all of Owensboro, Alvin Wells (Kim) of Union County, KY, Wes Shemwell (Kelly) of Michigan and, Mark Allen (Jennifer) of Clarksville, TN ; several grandchildren; and a sister, Sherry Howard.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in the Chapel at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. on Friday and from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Peggy Sue Allen Memorial Fund, c/o James H. Davis Funeral Home, 3009 Frederica Street, Owensboro, KY 42301.
