Obituary for Petra Mendoza San Benito – Petra Mendoza 85, of San Benito was called to be with the Lord Friday, May 18, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco (Arismendez) Alcala and Dolores Ledesma Alcala; a son, Hilario Mendoza, Jr.; sisters, Marta Alcala, Euduelia Hernandez and Alicia Cerny McCauley and brother, Arnulfo Alcala and most recently a grand-daughter Christina Gomez. Petra is survived by her son, Roberto (Zoila Galvan) Mendoza and daughters, Oralia (Armando) Galvan, Irma (Armando) Ayala, Amelia Gomez, Gloria(+Raul) Ballin, Lydia (Daniel) Casas, Rosario (Roy) Gonzalez, Rosalinda (Davideric) Vasquez; sisters, Sara (Daniel) Bocanegra, Maria (Joe) Nunley; brothers, Arturo (Janie) Alcala, Alfonso (Janie) Alcala and Alfredo Alcala.

She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives. Petra was a loving and hardworking mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Providing for and raising her family was one her greatest accomplishments.

She was the oldest of 10 siblings who helped raise them after her mother passed away. She was born in Mexico but was most proud of becoming a US Citizen. Visitation will begin Tuesday at 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM and a rosary will be at 7:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 departing the Rudy Garza Chapel at 9:30 AM for a 10:00 AM Eucharistic Service at St. Joseph Catholic Church in San Benito and interment will follow at Mont Meta Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Armando Ayala, Jr., Daniel Casas, Armando Galvan, Roy Gonzalez, Ricky Lee Mendoza, Robert Mendoza, Christipher Vasquez, Davideric Vasquez, Jr. and Davideric Vasquez.
