Mr. Phillip (Phil) Marcell Whitley, Jr. age 75, of Riverdale passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018. He was born in Pine Mountain Valley, Georgia on Friday, January 1, 1943. Mr. Whitley was the son of the late Phillip Marcell Whitley, Sr. and the late Virginia Elizabeth (Barnes) Whitley.

Besides his parents, Mr. Whitley is preceded in death by his brother John Eugene Whitley and by his sister Elizabeth Anne Atwell. Survivors include his wife Reba (Stover) Whitley of Riverdale; his daughter, Destiny Whitley and her fiancé Jim Bird of Stockbridge; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. In accordance with Mr. Whitley’s wishes, he will be cremated.

The family will be conducting a memorial service at Prayer Rock in F.D. Roosevelt State Park (2970 GA-190 Pine Mountain, Georgia 31822) on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 3 P.M with Reverend Horace Stover officiating. Messages of condolence can be made to the family by signing the tribute wall. Cremation services are being provided by Hutcheson-Croft Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Temple.
