Phyllis Marie Forstrom, 85, of Quinnesec, MI, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Maryhill Manor in Niagara. She was born July 29, 1933 in Quinnesec, MI daughter of the late Vernon and Ida (Nickolai) Gumm. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1952 and married Paul Forstrom on July 11, 1953 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Quinnesec.

She worked at Grede Foundries for many years. Phyllis was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Her life revolved around her family.

Phyllis was an awesome cook and loved to bake. She enjoyed sports, especially the Braves, the Tigers, and the Packers. She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Quinnesec and was very involved in many of the church activities.

Over the many years, Phyllis had multiple health issues and surgeries, yet she never complained . She was a true fighter and strong in her faith. She was also known to be feisty and sassy but had a heart of gold and would do anything to help someone.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Paul; two daughters, Joan Oliver of Quinnesec and Kathy (Joe) Anderson of Niagara; one brother, Stanley Gumm of Oak Creek, WI; three grandchildren, Traci Oliver (Tim Krans) of Iron Mountain, Kati Jo (Dieter) Hanamann of Milwaukee and Paul (Briana) Oliver of Iron Mountain; six great-grandchildren, Logan, Olivia, Brady, Hunter, Addysen and Anderson. She also left several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, LeAnn Marie Black; son-in-law, Doug Oliver; one brother, David (Arlene) Gumm and sister-in-law, Sylvia Gumm; and by her dog, Scruffy.

Visitation will be 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2019 at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. Rev. David Johnson will officiate.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4 at the Quinnesec Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Gumm, Gene Ireland, Dieter Hanamann, Tim Krans, Paul Oliver, and John Wilkinson. Condolences may be expressed to the family of Phyllis Forstrom online at www.
