Polly Sue (Benfer) Wilson went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2018. She was born to Hollis B. and Juanita (Clausell) Benfer on September 19, 1943 in Fort Worth, Texas. Polly was a graduate of C. F. Brewer High School and a resident of Alvarado.

She served the Lord at the Alvarado First Baptist Church by coordinating an extensive prayer chain in her Bible study class. Polly intensely loved her Bible study classmates and they took great care of her. They often took her to doctor’s appointments, called to check on her, and visited her at her home.

As a loving Mother of four children, she worked tirelessly to ensure they did not go without, but always made an effort to attend their events and activities. They had many great times from Sunday dinners at Mam maw and Paw Paw’s to camping trips in the old station wagon. She would often say, “We don’t have much, but we have each other”.

Appropriately enough, it was her son, Scotty, who cared for her late in life. Polly was a huge fan of the Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. She never met a stranger and had a smile for everyone.

Polly loved her kid’s friends like they were her own. Many still refer to her as “Granny Polly” or “Granny Sue”. Polly always took great pride in her kids, family, and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton Kay Vaughan Funeral Home in Alvarado, Texas on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 6-8pm. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Alvarado on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 10 am with Pastor Wade Taylor officiating. Internment will follow at the Prairie Valley Church Cemetery in Whitney, Texas, immediately following the service.

Pastor Eddie Booth of Peoria Baptist Church will officiate. Polly is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Linda Doyle; and grandson Peyton Lesley. Those left to follow her example are her children: Terri Morgan and husband, Steven; Toni Lesley and husband, Curtis; Kenneth Estes and wife, Laura; and Scotty Estes.

Grandchildren: Katie Ballard and husband, Steven; Chase Smith; Sheldon Smith; Shelbi Lesley; Averi Lesley; Cade Lesley; Ashlee Estes; Aaron Estes and wife, Caitlin; J.T.
