Obituary for Homer K. Stallings Homer K. Stallings, 83, of Johnston City, passed away at 12:08 a.m., Friday, March 15, 2019 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Homer was born September 14, 1935 to Troy Sr. and Julia (Pluta) Stallings. He married Rose Marie Slater on December 22, 1956.
They have shared 62 years of marriage together. Homer was retired, having been a coal miner for many years at Zeigler #4 and Consol Coal Mines. Homer along with his wife and son owned and operated Lincoln Real Estate in Johnston City for several years.
He was a member of the Third Baptist Church in Marion. Homer was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country honorably. He was a 1953 graduate of Johnston City High School.
Homer and Rose have been longtime supporters of Johnston City High School athletics. Homer’s loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Homer is survived by two sons, Mike (Jayne) Stallings of Marion, Jeff (Michelle) Stallings of Energy; four grandchildren, Christy (Todd) Shoemake of Spring Hill, TN, Austin (Nichole Stubbs-Stallings) Stallings of Harrisburg, Haley Stallings and Sheldon Stallings of St. Louis; three great-grandchildren, Jackson Shoemake; Holden Stallings and Noah Stubbs; two sisters, Jeanette Elliott and Joy (Jack) Helfrich of Johnston City; two brothers, Raymond Stallings of Fairfield, Bob (Jo) Stallings of Salem; two sisters-in-law, Sue Slater and Donna Stallings of Johnston City.
Several nieces and nephews also survive. Homer was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Troy Stallings and an infant brother, Kenneth Dean Stallings; brothers-in-law, Bill Elliott, Harvey Slater, Jr., Bill Slater and Dale Williams; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Stallings, Marieta Stallings and Sandra Williams. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., noon on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Larry Shacklee officiating.
Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Johnston City High School Athletics Program or to the Third Baptist Church of Marion Library Fund.
