Rachel McIntyre Hatley, 89, of Locust, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast in Concord. Mrs. Hatley was born June 20, 1929 to the late Rev. Sunday Louis “Sonny” and Martha Tucker McIntyre.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband in 1976, Ernest “Jack” Hatley; brothers, Paul McIntyre, Roy McIntyre, Ralph McIntyre, Bill McIntyre; sisters, Lena Hartsell, Fannie Sossman, Ruby Canup, Esther Whitley, and Ruth Whitley Helms. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 pm, Friday, November 23, 2018 at Mission Baptist Church, 12444 Mission Church Road, Locust. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary, officiated by Rev.

Jeremy Hyde, Rev. Barry Whitley and Dr. Ronnie Russell. Burial will conclude in the church cemetery.

Survivors include: daughter, Marcia and husband Rickey Bowers; daughter, Cindi and husband, Butch Purser; daughter, Phelesia and husband, Jeffrey Hartsell; grandchildren, Reggie Bowers, Suzianne Bowers, Kyle Purser, Justin Hartsell; great-grandchildren, Rickey Bowers, Sarah Bowers, Allyson Kost, Liam Purser; sister, Doris Huneycutt In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 2101 Rexford Rd. #165W, Charlotte, NC. 28211 or Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC.
