Ralph Anthony Alterio Loved his faith and family above all. Ralph Anthony Alterio, 86, a lifelong resident of Canonsburg passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born April 14, 1932 in Canonsburg the son of the late John and Giacomina Livolsi Alterio.

He was a graduate of Canonsburg High School and attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Mr. Alterio was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. He was a devout catholic and watched mass daily on TV and also prayed the rosary daily.

He frequented the Canonsburg Senior Center, and was a dedicated brother who visited his sister and best friend every day. Mr. Alterio was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan enjoying the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins. Above all and most importantly, he loved his faith and family.

Mr. Alterio had a very friendly and jovial disposition and enjoyed conversing with his many friends and family. Mr. Alterio was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Japan as a Military Policeman (MP) during the Korean Conflict. On September 1, 1958 in St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg, he married Anita Virginia Teatino with whom he had celebrated fifty-four years of marriage when she passed away August 3, 2013.

McGraw Edison Corporation in Canonsburg employing him as a winder. Mr. Alterio along with his brother in law, Anthony Barbosky, co-owned Barbee’s meat market in Bridgeville. Surviving are two daughters Marianne (Darryl) Wargo and Monica (Robert) Durbin and sister Mary Ann Barbosky all of Canonsburg, two brothers in law Vincent (Joann) Teatino of Imperial and Steve (Judy) Tetino of Canonsburg and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Alterio in addition to his wife, was preceded in death by a brother in law Jack (Stephanie) Teatino, Sister in law Connie Teatino, sister in law Theresa (Roy) Porter and brother in law Anthony Barbosky. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College Street in Canonsburg. Departing prayers will be held in the funeral home at 10:00 Saturday June 2, 2018 immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church at 317 West Pike Street in Canonsburg.

Interment will be held privately in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a later date with full military honors by the United States Army and the VFW Post #191 of Canonsburg. A guestbook is available at www. deangelocare.com.
