Obituary for Ralph H. Rosenblum Ralph Rosenblum, DDS passed away on September 26, 2018 at the age of 97. He was an accomplished artist, a Professor Emeritus of the College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University and a Veteran of the Navy serving in the South Pacific in WWII. His love of art led him to classes at the Cleveland School of Art, studying drawing, design and sculpture.
He received a degree in Journalism-Advertising with a minor in Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin in 1943. After serving in the Navy and working in the corporate world he graduated in 1962 from the OSU College of Dentistry. In 1950 he won the graphics competition in the May Show at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
He also pursued Origami, inventing an original fold that was exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum as part of the museum’s Origami display of folds from around the world in 1984. He was the editor of many professional publications and was the published author of nearly 40 articles and abstracts. Besides Sigma Delta Chi, a journalism honorary fraternity, he is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, Alpha Omega, the Pierre Fouchard Academy and was inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists in October 1973.
He is former editor of the Columbus Dental Society BULLETIN and was awarded the first annual J. David Brilliant Award in recognition of outstanding service by the Richard L. Basch Memorial Seminar on Preventive Dentistry at the Seminar’s 1976 program. Ralph was predeceased by his wife, Helen Friedman Rosenblum, and his second wife Joan Friedman Rosenblum as well as his Brother Earl Rosenblum [Liesel]. He is survived by his son Chip [Ralph Jr] and his wife Gail, Grandchildren Loryn Rosenblum Bunker [Matt], Karen Elaine Jehl [Kevin], Cary Sutton, Jill Sutton-Korthase [Heidi], Great-Grandchildren Jake, Sarah and Rebecca Cook, Lucy and Henry Jehl, and Noa and Anya Sutton-Korthase, and Joan’s sons Ron [Nancv], Mark, Harley, Steven [Karen Kim], Nieces and Nephew Joyce and Carol Friedman, Rosie Bosco [Willie] and Jim Rosenblum [Carolyn] and all their families.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 28 at Wexner Heritage House, 1151 College Ave. Burial will follow at New Agudas Achim Cemetery. Immediately following the burial family and friends are invited to a meal of consolation at Wexner Heritage House.
