He was baptized in 1925 and confirmed in 1939 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Vincent, Iowa. Ralph entered the U.S. Army in 1945, serving in the Philippines and Hawaiian Islands prior to being discharged in 1946. He married Margaret M. Jones in October 1947 at the Methodist Church in Manson, Iowa.
Ralph was a general contractor, laying basements, applying roofs and a true jack-of-all-trades. Upon retirement, he and his wife pursed their love of antiques, opening their own antique business which included sales, repairs and refinishing. If there was an auction within a 100 mile radius, you could always find them there.
Never one to sit still very long, Ralph always had a large garden and spent many hours riding his lawn mower. Ralph enjoyed bowling in his younger years but his later years found him sitting in a boat spinning fish tales with his dear friend, Don Patz. In addition, he was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Fort Dodge, Iowa, since 1948.
Ralph is survived by his daughter Linda Haug (Dwayne), Lake of the Ozarks, MO; five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; his sisters Leila Insko and Delores Dencklau; and dear friends, Don Patz, Sharon Neumann-Lee and Gary LeValley. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret M. Michehl, his parents, three sons, Perry, Craig and Michael, one grandson Trent, one great grandson Kevin, his brothers Willis, Louis, Earl, and Delmar and his sisters, Darlene Macek and Marian Dencklau.
