Raymond A Brickzen July 29, 1926 – March 27, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Ray Brickzen, 92 of Cayuga, ND passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, April 6th at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Geneseo, ND at 1:00 pm with visitation from 11:30 am- 1 and a Rosary at Noon. Lunch will be provided by St. Mary’s Altar Society to follow.

Military hors by North Dakota Honor Guard and the Cayuga American Legion Post. Burial will be at Cayuga Community Cemetery, Cayuga ND. Ray was born July 29, 1926 to John & Helen Brickzin in rural Cayuga, North Dakota.

Ray was raised on the family farm near Lake Tewaukon, south of Cayuga, along with four siblings, attending school at Wood Lake. Ray served in the Army, 40th Infantry Division, overseas in the Korean War. Upon returning to ND, Ray continued to farm with his father, John, younger brothers Ferdinand and Robert.

Ray purchased the farm and continued to raise crops and Angus cattle. Ray was a 66 year member of the Cayuga American Legion Post 294. Ray enjoyed dancing; all old time music including Waltzes; Polka and Music Festivals especially Molly B; fishing; playing Dummy Rummy cards with friends; feeding the Wildlife; he loved his Farm and Dogs.

Uncle Ray, was a favorite to all his young nieces and nephews to whom he was always a fun, kind and generous man with an endless supply of soda and candy. He tirelessly let them tag along while he farmed. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Virgil.

He is survived by his sister: Margaret (LeRoy) Davey of Powell, WY and their children: Susan & Jacquie Davey; brother: Ferdinand Brickzin (Beverly) of Hastings, MN and their children: Debbie (Kevin) Radke; Diane (Daryl) Gardell; David Brickzin; Mary (Tom) Gale; Sharon (Shawn) Dahl; Lisa (Todd) Wagner; Jeff Brickzin; Jim Brickzin and many other great nieces and nephews. Brother: Robert (Willie) Brickzin of Thompson Falls, MT and Bob’s sons: Kenneth & Dennis. Ray will be forever in the hearts of Companion, Mary Ann Opitz of Geneseo, ND and Mary Ann’s Family whom regarded Ray as “Dad & Grandpa”.

Joe (Fran) Opitz, Jim Opitz, Jacqualine (Brian) Johnson and all their children and grandchildren.
