KEANEY, Raymond F., 92, of Franklin Rd. , passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. He was the husband of the late Jeanette C. (Delisle) Keaney.

Born in Providence, son of the late John and Lydia (LaPlante) Keaney and stepson of the late Henry Davidson, he had been a resident of Scituate for 30 years, living previously in Providence. Ray grew up in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence and served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was proud to be a garbage man for the city of Providence for 25 years and also a mail handler for the U. S. Postal Service for 25 years, working both full-time jobs concurrently for 12 years.

In retirement, Ray and Jeannette enjoyed the company of their two older grandchildren, going on trips with their friends, and participating in the Manton Seniors social club and bowling league. His true passion was being outdoors and doing yard work. Ray was Jeannette’s full-time caretaker for seven years until her passing in 2007.

Since then, he lived relatively independently with his daughter and son-in-law, still driving, cooking, shopping, and bowling until recently. He spent a lifetime taking care of others, including his parents, father-in-law, aunts, and being generous to his children and grandchildren. Quick with both his opinions and jokes, he will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving children, David M. Keaney and his wife Cheryl of Florida, Raymond J. Keaney of Virginia, Karen H. Roy and her husband Robert of Scituate, and Brian P. Keaney and his wife Elizabeth True of Worcester and four grandchildren, Jon and Melanie Roy and Liam and Brigid Keaney. His funeral will be held Monday, February 4, 2019 at 9:00 am from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte. 117), Coventry with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in SS.

Peter & Paul Church, West Warwick. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Sunday 1:00 – 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Raymond’s name to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Blvd. , East Providence, RI 02914 would be appreciated.
