Obituary of Raymond Donaldson Raymond Paul Donaldson, age 90, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Raymond was born in Harding, WV on January 31, 1928, a son of the late Ray G. and Elizabeth Ferrell Donaldson. Raymond served his country, first, in the US Army and later in the US Air Force until his retirement after a 20 year service that spanned through WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

He was stationed in Germany during WWII where he was the honor guard for General Mark Clark. He also started an orphanage in Jeju Island, a small island off of the Yellow Sea. Throughout his military career, Raymond received many awards and honors that he and his family were very proud of.

After his retirement from the military, Raymond worked at Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore, MD and later he was an Associate Engineer for the WV Department of Highways. In his retirement, he worked as a consultant for CTL Concrete, where he designed cement for the hospital and parking garage. In his free time, Raymond was an avid reader and was a sketch artist, filling up many books with his art.

He was loving and compassionate, and was a mentor and father figure to many. Family was most important to him, and he will be missed dearly. Raymond is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jacqulyn James Donaldson; daughters, Beth Ann Michael and husband Richard of Rivesville and Amy Rae (Wilson) Miller and husband Edward Webster Miller of Morgantown; grandchildren, Jacqulyn M. Wilson, Robert A. Wilson, Jr., Amanda Emily Tustin, and Richard Samuel Michael; great grandchildren, Makayla Evans, Quentin M. Jordan, Madison Evans, Peyton A. Wilson, and Willow G. Wilson; and one great great grandchild on the way.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his son, Lucas Paul Donaldson; and sisters, Josephine Sampson, Betty Hines, and Jeanette Donaldson. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the physicians, nurses, and staff at WVU Family Medicine, WV Heart Institute, and Amedisys Hospice for their love, care, and compassion during Raymond’s time of need. Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 11-1 and 4-6 pm and on Saturday from 10am until the 11 am funeral service.

Burial will follow at Arnettsville Cemetery with full military honors conferred by the US Air Force. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.
