R.B. Henderson died September 25, 2018 in Lexington, at the age of 89 years 9 months 5 days. Gravesite services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Friday, September 28, 2018, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service. R.B. was born December 20, 1928 in Winfield, Alabama to Thurman F and Lue Ella (Price) Henderson.

He was raised and attended school in Alabama and Mississippi. R.B. was inducted into the United States Navy on September 17, 1946. After serving a few years, he was honorably discharged.

He then was inducted into the United States Army on December 4, 1950, serving during Korea. After serving a few years, he was honorably discharged. He was then inducted into the United States Air Force, serving during Vietnam.

He was honorably discharged on April 13, 1956, ending his military service. During his years he earned many Decorations, Medal and Commendations. RB was proud of his military service, but didn’t talk about it a lot.

He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. After his military career, he moved to Texas with his family. After 27 years in Texas, R.B. moved to Oklahoma, making his home in the Lexington area.

R.B. enjoyed fishing, hunting and visiting with friends and family. R.B. was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Lue Ella Henderson; daughter, Teresa Peltier; son, Randy Henderson; brothers FD Henderson, Rayburn Henderson; and sister, Rita Hogan. Survivors include his children, Pam Short and husband, Larry, Marsha Brown and husband, Donnie; Debbie Short and husband, Bennie, Kathy Weidman and husband, Mark, Patricia Richardson and husband, Dick; siblings, Ray Thomas Henderson and wife, Laura, Rona Johnson and husband, Glen; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
