Rebecca Becky M Cabe , February 20, 1949 — March 26, 2019

Rebecca “Becky” McCabe, age 70, of Colonia, NJ passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 peacefully in her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 20, 1949 in St. Charles, Missouri to David and Helen Johnston, Becky grew up in Waldwick, NJ. For the past 41 years, she has resided on Hayes Avenue in Colonia.

During that time, she was very active in both the local community and St. John Vianney Parish. She volunteered with the Boy Scouts and taught CCD for many years. She loved the outdoors, summers at the beach, and spending time in her garden.

Becky was the cornerstone of her family and a pillar within her community. This was evident by the overwhelming outpouring of love and support she received during her last weeks. She had such a loving and welcoming nature about her that made it easy for others to connect with her.

She made true friendships wherever she was. No matter how long she knew someone, how old they were, or what their story was, Becky opened her heart and her life to everyone around her. Her family and her career were her passion.

For over thirty years Becky worked as a day care provider, both in her home and most recently at Centenary Early Learning Center in Metuchen, NJ. Becky loved children and took great joy in not only raising and spending time with her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but in helping to care for others. There are so many young lives that have been influenced and touched by Becky’s loving care.

Becky is survived by her husband, Tom; her daughters, Kelley (Larry) Cuzzi and Jill (Tolga) Demir; her son, Adam (Rachel) McCabe; her grandchildren, Matthew (Natalie), Brianna (Andrew), and Ashley; her beautiful great-grandchildren, Aria Grace and Mark Vincent; and too many close friends to name. Becky is predeceased by her parents and brother, Jeff. Visitation will be held Monday April 1, 2019 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ 08820.

Funeral Services will be on 9:45am Tuesday April 2, 2019 at the funeral home followed by a 10:45am Mass at St. John Vianney RC Church, 420 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ 07067. Burial to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ. At Becky’s request, donations can be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers.
