Reginald “Reggie” Dee Gray, 77, of Newton; formerly of Reasnor, died on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 24, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorials to Reggie’s family may be left at the funeral home. Reggie, the son of Paul and Florence (Anderson) Gray, was born on December 3, 1940 in Newton. He attended school in Monroe and later graduated from Newton High School.

Reggie lived in Reasnor as an adult and worked at the Maytag Company in Newton for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the UAW Local 997. Reggie was a volunteer fireman and EMT for Reasnor as well as serving on the city council and as town Treasurer.

He enjoyed camping, hiking, and mushroom hunting. Reggie is survived by his children, Tonya (Robert) Guthrie of Newton, Tony Gray of Grinnell, Angie (Brian) Cogley of Colfax, Nicky (Will) Cowan of Waukee, and Heather Oswalt of Monroe; 26 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Mike (Dawn) Minenga of Nebraska; and four girls he considered his own, Kendra Castellanos, Buffy Gates, Amy Rodriquez, and Courtney Gonzalez. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a brother.
