Waterville – Rene-Joseph I. Martin 87, passed away Sunday September 23, 2018 at a nursing facility in Canton, Maine. He was born in Van Buren, Maine on April 22, 1931 the son of William and Rita Anna (LaJoie) Martin. He was formerly employed in Van Buren, picking potatoes and working in the lumber industry.

He moved from Van Buren to the Waterville area and was employed first at Thayer Hospital and then at Central Maine Motors, and then had joined the Waterville Fire Department… Read More » where he was employed for over 20 years in various capacities. Rene also enjoyed fishing and camping and watching DVD’s on television. He is survived by his two sons Donald Martin and wife Vinita and David Martin.

His daughter Judy Martin Craig and husband Stephen. Also by 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Rene was predeceased by his parents, his former wife Laura who passed away in 2011, and his three brothers Joseph Edmund Martin, Auriel Martin and Claude Martin.

There will be no public visitation and funeral services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville. An online guestbook may be signed, memories and condolences shared at www.
