OBITUARY Rensselaer C. Havens January 17, 1933 – January 29, 2019 Rensselaer “Rens” Curtiss Havens, 86, of Marblehead, passed away suddenly on January 29, 2019 in Marblehead. Rens was born in Olean, New York to Rensselaer and Alice Havens on January 17, 1933. He went to school at Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Rens married Rita Stacey on June 13, 1959 in Marblehead. He was a veteran of the Navy and served in the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of RC Havens & Sons Construction for 18 years.

He was a founding member of the Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor, a former director of the Council on Aging and was an active member of the Philanthropic Lodge of Marblehead. Rens loved his family deeply. Family gatherings were one of his favorite ways to spend his time.

He was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots, enjoyed playing a round of golf and being on his boat with friends and family. Rens loved many, he was loved by many, and will be missed by all. Rensselaer is survived by his loving wife, Rita.

Children: Curt and wife Natalie Havens, Stacey and husband John Barnes, Denise Pellegrini, Tim Havens and wife Amy Renz, and Michael Havens. He was pre-deceased by his loved sister, Nancy and was survived by brothers, Ross Havens and Dick Havens. Brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Gail Stacey.

Grandchildren: Jessica Rand, Ricky Wyman, Samantha Lendall, Gregory Barnes, Eric Pellegrini, Derek Havens, Reid Havens, Courtney Havens, and Corbin Keiper. And Great-Grandchildren: Brianna, Braedon, Connor, Dagny and Taggart. Celebration of life services will be held at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 26 Pleasant Street, Marblehead on Saturday, February 2 at 11AM.
