Rev. Joseph Gregory was the son of the late Joseph and Edith Gregory. He was born on March 30, 1931, in Fairfax, South Carolina.

He departed this life on February 26, 2019, in the Compassionate Care Hospice-St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington. He received his early education in the Fairfax Public School System of South Carolina. At an early age, he moved from Fairfax to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

After moving to Philadelphia, he served in the United States Army from April 1951 through March 1953, receiving an honorable discharge. Subsequent to leaving the military, he was employed by S.D. Storm Window Plant for a few years, followed by his employment with the Edward G. Budd Co., where he retired after 30 years of service. during his tenure with the Budd Co., he was called to the ministry which led him to attend Manor Bible College of Philadelphia, becoming and ordained minister in 1958.

He was called to pastor Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church for 13 years. While pastoring, he met Joan Ann Brown and the two united in holy matrimony on July 28, 1979. Subsequently, Rev.

Gregory pastored United Missionary Baptist Church and New Galilee Church, all of Wilmington, Delaware. Following his retirement from pastoring, he worked for Allied Barton Security as a security guard for 25 years; where he remained until his passing. Rev.

Gregory was a dedicated and passionate employee, always arriving to work extra early. He took great pride in his role as a security guard, welcoming all with a warm and friendly smile. His hobbies included cooking out, yard work, watching old western movies, Law and Order and going to his favorite restaurant, Cracker Barrel.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, Toby Gregory and Warren Gregory; eight siblings, Squire Gregory, Dave Gregory, Thomas Gregory, Lewis Gregory, Josie Stevens, Evangelist Rose Stokes, Evangelist Mattie L. Fields and Mary Tyler. Rev. Gregory leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 39 years, Joan Ann Gregory; children, Ralph Gregory, Theresa Gregory, Josette Gregory-Phillips(Jeffrey); four step children, John Byron Brown,III (Arshay), Jill Brown, Joey Brown (Djunda), and Jay Brown; three siblings, Fred Gregory, Joseph Benjamin Gregory and Louise Grant; two sisters-in-law, Sherita Purnell and Virginia Gregory; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11am Friday, March 15, 2019, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2200 N. Claymont St., Wilmington; with a viewing from 9-10:45 am only. Burial in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
