Rex’s Obituary Rex Wilson Smith, 75, of Gastonia, passed away Friday, February 1, 2019, at the Robin Johnson House, Dallas. He was born July 28, 1943, in Pittsylvania County, VA, son of the late James Smith and Jettie Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Sue Smith.

Left to cherish his memories are his son, Dwight Smith and wife, Jeanna of Greer, SC; brother, Jimmy Smith; sister, Shirley Mayhue; grandchildren, Amanda, Elizabeth, and Kayla Smith; and great grandchildren, Preston Hoffman, Rachel Hoffman, Emma Hoffman, and Harper Smith. The family will receive friends Monday, 7:00-9:00 pm, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 South York Rd. Gastonia.

A graveside service, officiated by Pastor Mike Wilson, will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, at Hollywood Cemetery, Gastonia. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia. Condolences may be made online at greenefuneral.com.
