BODENSCHATZ – Richard A., 89, New Germany, went to be with the Lord January 25, 2019, at Maple Winds Care Center, Portage. Born April 5, 1929, in New Germany, the last surviving child of Andrew and Mary Magdalene (Wess) Bodenschatz. Preceded in death by parents; beloved wife, Rose Marie (Wyland) Bodenschatz, who died September 22, 2010; brother, Wilfred Bodenschatz; and sisters, Rita and Mary Frances Bodenschatz, and Margaret Cannin.

Survived by son, Michael R. Bodenschatz, New Germany; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Germany.

He was a lifelong farmer and lumberman. He believed in working hard and enjoyed tending to his fields, harvesting timber and developing “Wooded Estates”. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork.

Visitation will also be held at the church from 9 a.m. until Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Father Leon Hont, OSB, Celebrant. Committal, Pringle Hill Cemetery. Military graveside service by St. Michael American Legion Post 551.
