Richard Arnold Daponte, 85, of Terryville passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. He was the husband of the late Nona (Ciarlone) Daponte. Richard was born February 28, 1933 in Waterbury, a son of Anthony and Clara (Corti) Daponte.

He was a Korean War Veteran. He worked as an insurance salesman for many years winning many awards and trips. He eventually became the owner of Nutmeg Insurance of Waterbury.

He was an avid reader, loved to watch movies, Redsox games and UCONN boys and girls basketball games. He is survived by his children Rick Daponte and wife Sharon of Terryville, Marisa Cunningham and her husband Dennis of Terryville, Matthew Daponte of Cape Cod, MA, Nona Guarino and husband David of Cheshire, Philip Daponte of Meriden, Salli Klimkowski and husband Vinnie of Southington, and Garett Daponte and wife Cara of Southington. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren Christie and husband John, Dana and husband Steven, Ryan, Erik, Alicia, David, Rachel, Nicholas, Dominik, Natalie, Zachary, and Collin.

Also 4 great-grandchildren Joshua, Jeremy, Christopher, and Mia. He leaves a brother Dr. Kenneth Daponte of California. He was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Daponte.

A memorial mass will be held 11:00AM on Monday September 17th, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church, Terryville, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville, CT is in charge of arrangements.
