Obituary for Richard Dean Wells Richard Dean Wells, 87 Richard Dean Wells, 87 of Ashland passed away, Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Brethren Care Village. He was born August 4, 1930 to the late Emitt and Maud (nee McManamay) Wells in Ashland, Ohio. Richard graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1948.

He proudly served for six years in the 179th Ohio National Guard during the time of the Korean Conflict. He married the love of his life, the former Ila Mae Foltz on October 5, 1952. The happy couple would call Shelby, OH (Ila’s hometown) their home for 10 years prior to returning to Ashland.

Richard retired after 42 years from A.L. Garber Company where he was box board die maker. Richard enjoyed the great outdoors. He loved to travel with his wife Ila out West, but most of all he loved being her partner for more than 30 years in the Y-Knot Square Dancing Club.

Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Ila Mae Wells of Ashland; three daughters, Julie (William D.) Rush of West Lafayette, Catherine (John) Miller III of Avon Lake, and Sally (Timothy) Kornbau of Ashland; one son, Steven (Darlene) Wells of Ashland; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter born on the day of Richards passing, Ameila Marie Wells; one brother, David H. (Joyce) Wells; one sister, Kenlyn (Tom) Workman; and one brother-in-law, Walter Lewis, all of Ashland. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin, Donald, and Roy Wells; and two sisters, Norma Wells and Betty Lewis. In keeping with Richard’s wishes, no services will be held.

Interment will be in Ashland Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Brethren Care Village and Pathway Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they provided for Richard during the time of his stay. Online condolences may be shared on the funeral home’s website at denbowfh.com.
