Obituary for Barbara Evans Barbara J. Evans, 80 Barbara J. Evans, 80 of Ashland passed away Monday, June 25, 2018 in University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center. She was born January 11, 1938 in Loudonville to the late Wilmer (Dave) and Claireva (nee Moffett) Shultz. Barb married John “Jack” Evans Jr. on June 28, 1969.
They met at a roller rink, and they both loved roller skating. She was employed at Farmers Bank in Ashland, and retired from Key Bank after more than 40 years. Throughout her life she was a 4-H advisor, and assisted Jack with their auctioneer business.
She enjoyed collecting Red Glass and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. Barb was a avid dog lover. She loved camping with friends and family.
She enjoyed playing the piano and doing sudoku in her spare time. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Parsons of Mansfield and Renee (Peter) Evans-Richmond of Madison; three step children, Scott Evans of Mansfield, Kim (Doug) Arter of Milan, and Karen Neel of Bellville; eleven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Patricia (Dennis) Clawson of Adario and one brother, Ed (Sue) Shultz of Bradenton, Florida. In addition to her parents, Barb is preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Evans Jr. in November of 2010, nephew Jeff Clawson, Niece Susan Shultz, daughter in law Connie Evans, and son in law Rod Neel.
Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Coggins officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lake County Dog Shelter, 2600 N. Ridge Rd. , Painesville, Ohio 44077 or the American Heart Association. For those who may not be able, online condolences may be shared on the funeral home’s website at denbowfh.com.
