OBITUARY Richard DeMoranville Jr. April 6, 1977 – August 29, 2018 Richard “Richie” Lionel DeMoranville, Jr., 41, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 29, 2018. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of Richard DeMoranville, Sr. and his wife Lisa of Fairhaven and Devonne Quintin and her husband Norman of New Bedford. Richie was a lifelong area resident.

He graduated from Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School where he studied welding. He was employed by F & B Rubber in New Bedford before starting a career as a dispatcher at RLD Transportation, Inc., where he has worked for many years. He took great pride in his sons and enjoyed playing basketball with them in his spare time.

He was an avid skateboarder, and an exceptional baseball player in his youth, playing in the New Bedford and Fairhaven Little Leagues and the DYA in Dartmouth. Richie was kind, loyal and funny. He believed in family.

Many of his cousins consider him more of a brother with stories of adventure and coming of age and laughter. He loved scratch tickets, Memmere’s cream cheese cherry pie, and watching sports. He always supported the underdog, and was loved by so, so many.

He had an amazingly big heart and was filled with so much love. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his two sons, Tyler DeMoranville of Fairhaven and his mother, Stacey LaChappelle; and Jorden DeMoranville of New Bedford and his mother, Ruthie Serpa; one sister, Hope DeMoranville of New Bedford; two brothers; Jeremy and Adam DeMoranville, both of Fairhaven, two step sisters, Christina Sandor Peratos of Ocala, FL and Kimberly Dixon of Las Vegas, NV; a niece, Hailey Arruda of New Bedford; and one grandson, Colton Robert DeMoranville of Dartmouth; his grandmothers, Claire Tetreault of Fairhaven and the late Theodore T. Tetreault. Rachel Luiz Joaquim of New Bedford; his grandfather, Wilfred DeMoranville and his wife Carol of Foster, Rhode Island; his beloved aunt, Debra McMullen of Fairhaven and many more aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was the stepson of the late Clair “Bunnie” DeMoranville. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 Temple Place, Fairhaven followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00PM in Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven.
