RICHARD GLENN BYRD, age 75 of Verbena, passed away on May 11, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Mobile County, AL on August 11, 1943; the son of the late Alex Monroe Byrd and the late Reba Faye Covan Byrd. He was retired from Alabama Power Company as a local operation lineman with 41 years and 10 months service.

Richard loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by: Wife, Betty Byrd of Verbena; Daughter, Denise (Jerry) Rhodes; Son, Alex Byrd; Grandson, Drew (Brittany) Byrd; Grandson, Matt (Whitney Magee) Byrd; Granddaughter, Josie (Bradley Evans) Williams; Grandson, Jacob (Emily) Byrd; Grandson, Joshua Byrd; Granddaughter, Isabella Byrd; Step-Grandson, Ryan Rhodes; Step-Grandson, Russ Rhodes; Great Grandchild, Nathan Anthony Byrd; Sister, Janice (Jimmy) Coffman; Brother, David Earl (Darlene) Byrd; Brother, Michael (Delores) Byrd; Brother, Dwight Byrd; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 5-7pm at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 2:00pm from Chestnut Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bert Tippet, Rev.

Rev. Hoyt Chastain, and Rev. Allen Cunningham officiating.

The body will be in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Corinth Baptist Cemetery in Verbena, AL. Final care and arrangements entrusted to the Ellison Memorial Funeral Home of Clanton, AL.
