Richard J. Foster, age 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, NY. He was born April 2, 1940 in Erie, PA. He was a 1958 graduate of Troy High School (PA) and proudly served his country in the U.S.A.F.

during and after the war in Vietnam. Later, he earned his M.B.A. from Eastern New Mexico University. He retired in 2001 as an Avionic’ s Engineer for Northrup Grumman in Norwalk, CT.

He was also an avid tennis player for many years. He is survived by his wife, Carol Peterkin Foster; his brother David Hurlburt; his daughter, Teri Foster Pegnataro; Son in Law Dean Pegnataro and son Thomas D. Foster.

His grandchildren Abigail, Shayleigh, Jacob, Dean, Grace and Kate; his Brother-in- Law James Maney Jr.; his nephews Ryan Griffiths, William Griffiths, his wife Raina and niece Sara Motley. He was predeceased by his mother Beatrice Foster; stepfather Dennis Hurlburt; Father-in law Douglas Peterkin; Mother-In-Law Gertrude Peterkin, Brother -in-Law Thomas D. Peterkin and Sister-In-Law Gail Maney. Family, friends and others are invited to Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home Inc. 318 N. Montgomery Street, Newburgh, NY Thursday Oct 18th, from 4:00PM – 7:00 PM to grieve and reminisce.

Services will be held Friday Oct 19th, at 11:00 AM at Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home Inc. Grave side services to follow at Gardnertown Cemetery with Military Honors.
