Richard J. Senich September 04, 1933 – March 04, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book WATERBURY Richard J. Senich “Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather” Richard J. Senich, 85, of Woodbury, formerly of Waterbury, was reunited with his wife in heaven on Monday, March 4, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of the late Janice (Packer) Senich. Richard was born in Waterbury on September 4, 1933, son of the late Mitchel and Mary (Linnane) Senich.

He was a graduate of Wilby High School and after joined the U.S. Navy. He worked for the Waterbury-Republican American for 40 years in the composing room. Richard was an avid sports enthusiast and a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He took pride in coaching his son’s sports teams; St. Mary’s Basketball and Baseball, St. Joseph’s Baseball and the Waterbury Boys League Baseball. He was also a board member and former president of the Waterbury Knights Football and was active in the Holy Cross Father’s Club. Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory his three sons; Charles “Chuck” F. Senich and his wife Christine A. Sullivan of Woodbury, Jack Senich and his wife Sandra Vigliotti-Senich of Woodbury and Andrew P. Senich of Bronxville, NY.

He also leaves behind his three grandchildren; Madelyn S. Senich, Abigail S. Senich and Lilian R. Senich and his brother; James Senich. Richard’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for their compassionate care and dedication that they showed to him. Arrangements: A funeral will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019, 9:30 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening form 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Richard’s memory to: St. Vincent DePaul Mission P.O. Box 1612 Waterbury, CT 06721 Waterbury PAL 64 Division Street Waterbury.
