Richard Kent Mauery April 02, 1941 – January 18, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Richard “Dick” Kent Mauery walked peacefully through the veil on January 18, 2019 in Rexburg, Idaho. He passed after courageously defeating pancreatic cancer in 2016, yet finally succumbed to it when it returned uninvited the second time late 2018. He was born April 2, 1941 to his parents Delbert and Margaret Mauery in Deery Township, Pennsylvania.

His life was an active one filled with service and patriotism. As a young child, he loved swimming at the YMCA, acting in plays, singing, and gymnastics. After graduating from Lewistown High School in 1959, he attended Bloomsberg College where he graduated with a math major and physical science minor.

He later enlisted in the Air Force and enjoyed time and leadership positions in Texas, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and Turkey. He was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1968 and was a devoted follower of his Savior his whole life. He met and married Susan Burlison in the Seattle temple and became a father of four overnight.

Two other children were added, one by birth, and one through adoption. He worked for WSU as a gardener and after retirement in 2008, he spent hours working in his beloved flower beds and yard. He also enjoyed serving a family history mission with for The Church in Salt Lake City, UT.

His legacy was one of a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Nothing was more important to him than spending time with his family, and he will be sorely missed. He is survived by his devoted wife Susan of 35 years and their 6 children and 27 grandchildren: Timothy (Chanin, Ryan, Ariana, Holly, Jaren, Tyler, Amelia), Sarah (Dan, Benjamin, Emily, Lukas, Samuel, and Henry), Vernon (Lauren, Nicole, Nathan, Anne), Mary (Joseph, Dallin, Eliza, Andrew, Matthew, Molly, Penny, Josie, Simon, Titus), Nancy (Charles, Charlie, Chloe, Jenna, Allison),and Michael.

He is also survived by his older brother and only sibling, Gene, and his wife Ann and son Tim. He will be buried in the Wilford Cemetery near Rexburg Idaho on January 22, 2019 at 11 am. Memorial services will be held in Pullman, Washington on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10 am at the Moscow Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
