Richard L. “Dick” James, passed on to eternal life on May 3, 2019 following a brief battle with brain cancer. dick was born on June 23, 1946 to Claris and David James. He grew up in Anderson, attending St. Ambrose, Central Ave.

, South Side Jr. High and Anderson High School graduating in 1965. Dick was an accomplished athlete, winning a state championship in wrestling at 112 pounds. He attended Ball State University, then served in the United States Army in Korea.

Dick was always a hard worker, from a paper route to the drug store to finishing concrete even as a young man he was always working. Following his retirement from Delco Remy, he delivered flowers for Kay’s Blossom Shoppe for nearly 14 years bringing a smile and pleasant presence to all he served. Most recently, he worked at Keg’n Bottle where his friendly nature brought more friends into his circle.

Dick was happiest around his family and friends. He loved tailgating at Purdue, attending the NCAA Wrestling tournament, the annual trip to the Indy 500, and the special trips to Florida. The beach was a special place for Both Dick and his wife, Liz, having been married in Panama City, Florida.

dick was the father to Jamie and Jennifer. He was extremely proud of his girls. They kept him busy with the ball park, school activities, and plenty of mischief.

He adored his granddaughter, Sophia, and through his marriage to Liz gained a special step daughter Jennifer Hubbard. she then blessed him with two more wonderful grandchildren, Thomas and Erin. Dick liked nothing more than to share a beer or bloody Mary with those he loved.

His kind heart, easy smile, and teasing nature made everyone feel special. We will miss his presence, but forever hold him in our hearts. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Liz James; daughters, Jamie James of Knoxville, TN and Jennifer (John) Seeber of Indianapolis; and granddaughter, Sophia.

Also surviving are his step-children, Jennifer (Dave) Hubbard; step-grandchildren, Thomas and Erin ; siblings, Ronald (YiSon) James, Robert (Mavon) James, Martin James, and several nieces, nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Karen Skinner and Fred James; and the mother of his children, Karol (Kurtz) James. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2019, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St. Anderson, IN.

Services will follow visitation at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Jim Tallman officiating. Burial will take place in the East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. Memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s name to the donor’s charity of choice.
