Richard L. Hazen, 80, of Jersey Shore, passed away Wednesday, May 30 at UPMC Susquehanna surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jersey Shore, September 2, 1937, the son of the late Emerson R. and Inez B. (Shaffer) Hazen. Richard graduated from the Jersey Shore Senior High School in 1955 and married the love of his life, Nadine (Folmar) Hazen, September 8, 1956; they shared 61 years of marriage together.

He had a passion for his work and had a variety of jobs over the years; one of which was when, in the early 1990’s, he and his wife co-owned the Broadway Hotel in Jersey Shore where he was the cook. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an accomplished wood-worker. He was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Jersey Shore.

In addition to his wife, Nadine, he is survived by three sons; Mark Hazen (Francine) of LeRoy, IL, Kelly Hazen (Penny) of St. Charles, IL and Vaughn Hazen (Susan) of Sugar Grove, IL; seven grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, two sisters, Elaine Harrow (Larry) of Jersey Shore and Deborah Baney (John) of Clearfield. Memorial services for Richard will be held at a later date at the convenience of his family. Memorial donations can be made in his name to the American Heart Association at www.
