Richard L. John, age 71 of Petoskey, previously of Charlevoix passed away on October 1, 2018 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital. Richard was born on October 22, 1948 in Charlevoix, MI to the late Alvin and Dorothy (Pabo) John. Richard was a member of the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Petoskey as well as the Knights of Columbus.

He spent a lot of his free time volunteering in his communities. Richards favorite activity was spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. He also enjoyed listening to the police scanner, fishing, camping, and going to the casino.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Renee Huckle; grandchildren, Page John, Adina Huckle, Chloe Huckle, Isaiah Huckle, Jeremiah Sulz, Steven Sulz, and Gabriella Sulz; great grandson, Gabriel Bastianelli; former wife, Sheryl (James) Graham along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Sherry McGuffin officiating.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to his family, in care of Mortensen Funeral Homes, 209 State Street Charlevoix, MI 49720. Arrangements are being handled by the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
