Richard had been married to Jean for 69 years and had loved her since the age of 12. Richard has lived in the New Bern area since the age of 11.

He grew up to design and build many of our local New Bern structures including the kitchen and stable to Tryon Palace. This work was done while running Skinner Construction Co. originally founded by his father, Mark Skinner.
