Darling, age 65, a resident of Macomb Township, Michigan passed unexpectedly on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, Clinton Twp. He was born on October 28, 1953 in Monterey, California to the late Harry and Joanna (Belfiori) Darling. Rick served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1972 – 1975.

He worked as a sheet metal worker at Local 292 ABB, where he assisted in the building of numerous factories, robotics, and taught welding. Rick retired in 2015 after more than 20 years in this trade. He was a former member of the VFW Disco Post # 4659 in Shelby Twp.

He could often be found spending time with his grandchildren or enjoying the company of his canine companion and service dog Diamond and feline friend Mad Max. As an outdoorsman, Rick welcomed the opportunity to fish but nothing matched the joy he gained while riding his Harley on the open roads. He is survived by his children Shanon Darling, Richard Darling and Carl (Erin) Darling, sister Judy Reed, five grandchildren; Carl, Trever, Tyler, JoAnna, and Savanna.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Diane Thompson. Visitation will be held in the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main Street, Mount Clemens on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 2:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10:30a.m. in the funeral home. The family requests that you dress as casual as you like, just like Rick always did.
